This website presents the writing of Patrick Bran, the pen name of Brien Patterson. This policy explains how information is handled when you read the site, join the Patrick Bran Author Newsletter, or contact the author. For privacy questions, email brienpatterson@gmail.com.
Newsletter signups
The newsletter form asks for your email address and, optionally, your first name. Signups are sent directly to Mailchimp, the service used to manage the mailing list and deliver emails. A confirmation email is sent before you become a subscribed contact. You can choose not to confirm, or unsubscribe later using the link in a newsletter.
Newsletter information is used to send author news, book announcements, and updates about new fiction. Newsletter contact information is not sold or rented.
Information processed by service providers
Mailchimp processes contact and subscription information, including signup and confirmation records, subscription status, and technical information such as an IP address. Depending on the settings used for an email, Mailchimp may also process delivery, open, and link-click information to report how the newsletter is performing.
Mailchimp and its service providers may process information outside your country. Their practices are described in the Intuit Global Privacy Statement and Mailchimp Cookie Statement.
Messages you send
If you email the author, your email address and the information you choose to include are used to respond and maintain the correspondence. Please include only information needed for your request.
Website operation, fonts, and cookies
Hosting and technical service providers may process information such as IP addresses, requested pages, browser details, and access times to deliver the website, diagnose problems, and protect it against abuse. WordPress uses cookies for functions such as administrator login and session management.
The site loads web fonts from Google Fonts. Your browser connects to Google to retrieve those fonts, sharing connection information such as your IP address and browser information. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
The newsletter form sends information to Mailchimp when you submit it. Mailchimp’s signup and confirmation pages may use cookies and Google reCAPTCHA for security and human verification. No dedicated visitor-analytics service or advertising pixel is currently configured on this website.
Book purchases and other external links
Links to Amazon and other websites take you to services operated by other organizations. Their privacy policies apply to activity on those services. Book purchases are handled on the retailer’s website; this site does not collect your payment-card information.
How long information is kept
Newsletter contact information is kept while it is needed to manage the list. After you unsubscribe, a limited unsubscribe or suppression record may be retained to help prevent further unwanted email. Correspondence and technical records are retained for as long as reasonably needed for their purpose, security, or applicable recordkeeping obligations. Service providers and backups may have their own retention periods.
Your choices and requests
You can unsubscribe using the link in any newsletter. For questions or requests to access, correct, or delete information associated with you, contact brienpatterson@gmail.com. Some information may need to be retained to honor an opt-out, protect the service, or meet applicable obligations. Your available privacy rights may depend on where you live.
